Make Your Own Path

I constantly talk about the circle of influence and the importance of surrounding yourself with people that are where you want to be and are more successful than you. I will always seek out people that are on top of their game and learn as much as I can from them. I also believe that many times you need to create your own path to success. People tell me that I contradict myself since this is the exact opposite of following successful people and doing as they did and following their path.
Are you following one or creating your own?
The truth is everyone’s life, circumstances, experiences, career, etc. is different and you have to take what you have learned and apply it to your situation. Some things that you learned may be great advice that just does not work for you. How many times have I heard: “But xyz said that this is the way to do it and it doesn’t work”. Broaden your thought process and create your own path with the knowledge and experience that you have acquired. The best way to put it is in the words of the late, great Bruce Lee: “Research your own experience, absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, add what is specifically your own.”
Doing so is hard though, because it means you have to step out of your comfort zone. Walking your own path is definitely tough but understand that expanding your comfort zone on a regular basis is necessary to push your career to the next level. What have you been doing to step out of your comfort zone? Every day do something that will make you uncomfortable and put you ahead in life and get you closer to any goal you are striving for.
“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”
On another note, talking about doing uncomfortable things. On Friday I did a no rules training session and decided to do 100 tire flips with a 500+ lb tire. It was ten sets of ten reps with around 60-90 seconds break. Needless to say my forearms, legs,…..or how about “everything” is feeling it!
99 to go….
If you have ever done a no rules harcore training session let me know and leave it in the comments section. Let’s see who’s “tough as nails”!

You are a savage! I have trained with you first hand and know the level of your workouts to be far more intense than anyone I have ever met! 100 tire flips? What kind of a freak comes up with a session like that? The amazing thing is that you still put in a session on Saturday!
